"Agentic AI" is in every headline, but what it actually means for a medical clinic, and what it can and can't be trusted to do with patient privacy and compliance on the line, is far less clear.

Let's take a grounded, practical look at AI agents in healthcare: what they are, where they are well-suited to support clinical workflows, and where oversight is warranted. It's the context administrators and clinicians need before adopting any AI tool. That starts with the question that matters most in a clinic – whether a tool holds up to real privacy and compliance demands – and extends to how you judge if an agent can be trusted to act correctly at all.

To make the learning concrete, we'll work through one of the most complex operational problems a practice faces: scheduling. It's a revealing example of what an AI agent can actually do when it's built for a real-world problem, shown through a live look at scheduling handled by an agent in practice.
